Lamar Pickard is a native of Forest, Mississippi, and graduated from Jackson’s Central High School. He received a B.S. with distinction from Mississippi College, and was awarded the degree of Juris Doctor by the University of Mississippi School of Law. He has practiced law in the City of Hazlehurst since 1980. Judge Pickard began serving as Circuit Judge of the 22nd Circuit Court District in January of 1995, and was re-elected to that position in November of 1998, and again in November of 2002. This district covers the counties of Copiah, Claiborne and Jefferson. Judge Pickard currently serves as a member on the Mississippi Circuit Judges’ Judicial Advisory Study Committee. Judge Pickard is married to the former Marsha Speir. They have three children: Luke, age 26, Micah, age 24, and Laura age 22. The Pickards are members of the First Baptist Church of Hazlehurst where Mr. Pickard serves as Chairman of the Office Policy and Personnel Committee. The Judge lists his outside interests as golf, music and hunting.
